FRU Installation
The shelf FRU information is stored in SEEPROMs located on the backplane. During the
replacement of a MF106, software will determine the correct shelf FRU information from the
cached copy in the other MF106 and the backplane SEEPROMs.
Never exchange more than one of these FRUs (boards) at the same time to guarantee that the
shelf information stays consistent and up to date.
The board must only be operated in a shelf that is properly grounded.
Two MF106 in the same shelf must always be set to the same SGA. The FRU information of
both MF106 must be exactly the same. Otherwise, the red LED blinks and the boards are not
powered. In this case, refer to chapter
Two MF106 in different shelves must always be set to different SGAs. When set to the same
address, both MF106 will start but network problems may occur as the front management
Ethernet interface IP addresses are calculated based on the SGA.
Removal Procedure
The following procedure describes how to remove the board from a system. It assumes that
the system is powered. If the system is unpowered, you can disregard the blue LED and thus
skip the respective step. In that case it is a purely mechanical procedure.
1. To extract the active shelf manager initiate a switchover. Otherwise continue with
the next step.
2. Put on an ESD wrist strap.
3. Connect the strap to the shelf by attaching it to the front or rear ESD jack /ESD snap.
4. Remove any cables that are attached to front panel connectors.
5. Unfasten the screws of the face plate until the handle is detached from the front
panel of the board.
The handle switch activator triggers the blinking of the blue LED. The hotswap
state remains in the state "extraction pending", so that the blue LED is still blinking.
6. Wait until the blue LED is illuminated.
7. Remove the board from the shelf using the extraction handles.
