System Overview
1.1.4

Node Slots

The backplane in a Centellis 2000 Shelf Release 3.0 shelf provides two node slots, oriented
horizontally in the lower and upper part of the shelf. They are accessible from the front of the
shelf.
1.1.5

Rear Transition Modules

The node slots can be connected to rear transition modules (RTM) to provide easy access to I/O
signals through the zone 3 connector defined by the AdvancedTCA specification.
The Emerson RTMs can be used as rear expansion boards for node blades to access the different
interfaces on an AdvancedTCA blade through the RTM face plate.
1.1.6

Power Inlet Modules

The power inlet building block supports redundant power connection to the shelf from the
rear. It routes the power paths individually to two high current connectors which mate directly
with the front installed AC power supply/ DC power entry module. The power inlet is a fixed,
non-field replaceable unit.
1.1.7

AC Power Supply Unit and DC Power Entry Modules

The Centellis 2000 supports up to two redundant AC power supplies, or up to two field hot-
swappable DC PEMs with a 30 A breaker with line filtering.
1.1.8

Fan Trays

The system provides fault-tolerant cooling by using two hot-swappable intelligent fan trays,
one accessible from the front and one from the rear. Each fan tray contains two fans which are
speed-controlled by the shelf manager.
1.1.9

Air Filters

The air filters are installed inside the front fan tray slot. They ensure that the shelf operates
efficiently and therefore regular maintenance/replacement is required.
