2.6.2 Connecting transistor outputs

The transistor outputs of easy800 standard must be provided with a
suppressor circuit. The suppressor circuit is optional for easy800-SWD.

The switching off of inductive loads can produce high currents. Transistor
outputs should be protected from this with a suppressor circuit. If you are
not using a suppressor circuit, observe the following: Several inductive loads
must not be switched off at the same time, so as not to adversely overheat
the driver modules in the worst case. If the +24 V DC power supply is
switched off via a contact in the event of an emergency, and if more than
one actuated output with an inductive load can be switched off, you must
provide these inductive loads with a suppressor circuit (→ Figure 48).

DANGER
Please note the following when switching off inductive load.
Suppressed inductances cause less interference in the entire
electrical system. It is recommended that the suppressor circuit
is connected as close to the inductance as possible.
Behavior of transistor outputs in the event of a short-circuit/overload
The following function applies to easy800 standard:
In the event of a short-circuit or overload at a transistor output, this output
will switch off and the group alarm I15 or I16 will be set to 1. The output will
switch back on up to the maximum temperature after a cooling time that
depends on the ambient air temperature and the current level. If the fault
condition persists, the output will keep switching off and on until the fault is
rectified or until the supply voltage is switched of (→ Chapter 10‚
"Diagnostics possibilities", page 329).
easy800-SWD:
In the event of a short-circuit or overload at a transistor output, both outputs
will switch off and the group alarm I16 will be set to 1. The output will switch
back on after a wait time of 10 s and will measure the current. If the fault
continues, the outputs will switch off and on until the fault is rectified or the
supply voltage is switched off.
