Setting Up the Oscilloscope
To connect the mouse, the keyboard, a LAN cable, a USB device, a printer, and a GPIB

See Figure 1-4 for the location of back panel connectors.
The mouse can be plugged into either a USB port or into a PS2 port. There are

several USB connectors on the front panel of the oscilloscope that can be used.
If you plug the mouse into the PS2 port or a USB port on the back panel of the
oscilloscope, the connectors are labeled 1 and 5. When using the PS2 port, the
mouse must be plugged in prior to turning on power to the oscilloscope
The keyboard can be plugged into either a USB port or into a PS2 port. There

used. If you plug into the PS2 or USB port on the back panel of the oscilloscope

Connect your LAN cable to the RJ-45 connector labeled 3 on the back panel of

the oscilloscope.
After you have connected to the LAN card, you must set up the network. Before you try
to setup your network, you should exit the oscilloscope application. If you do not know
how to setup a network in Windows XP, see your network administrator or use the
Windows XP on-line help.
USB
Connectors labeled 5 can be used for any USB devices. There are also three

USB connectors in the lower right-hand corner of the front panel.
If you have a parallel (Centronics) printer, you will need a parallel printer cable.
Printer Cable
Connect cable into the connector labeled 4.
If you have a serial printer, you will need a 9-pin to 25-pin serial printer cable.
Some printers may require other cable configurations, but the oscilloscope has
a 9-pin serial connector. Connect cable into the connector labeled 7.
Attach the GPIB connector to the GPIB interface card connector labeled 6 on
GPIB Cable
the rear of the oscilloscope. The GPIB interface is optional and may not be on
your Infiniium.
Attach a USB cable to the connector labeled 8 to remotely control the
USB Cable
oscilloscope using USB.
