When first started (Figure 3-4, Start of Run) using one of the
Inject options, the fraction collector pauses so that the sample
can be injected, as indicated by the Play icon alternating with the
Inject icon. Touch the Play/Inject icon after the sample injection
to resume the operation.
The fraction collector advances through collection tubes as pro-
grammed by its method settings until it receives an Inject signal
(Figure 3-4, Restart 1). The fraction collector restarts the col-
lection program and moves to the tube defined by the overlay,
next, or skip options. This process repeats until the end of the run.
Timed – The timed options do not rely on external signals, nor
does it pause for injections. When using one of the timed options,
the fraction collector assumes that each of the multiple sample
injections are performed at fixed time intervals.
For example, the chemist injects a sample and touches the Play
icon to start the run (Figure 3-5). Thereafter, another sample is
injected at every five minute interval. Every five minutes the
fraction collector automatically restarts and moves to the tube
defined by the overlay, next, or skip options. This process repeats
until the end of the run.
