Spindle Assembly Rebuild (Cont.)
Assembly
1. Clean and inspect all surfaces.
2. Using the appropriate sized bearing driver, install the upper bearing until seated.
NOTE: Gently tap driver to avoid damaging the bearing during install.
3. Rotate spindle assembly and install bearing spacer.
4. With appropriate bearing driver, install remaining bearing until seated.
5. Install spindle shaft into housing.
NOTE: Ensure proper orientation of spindle.
6. Place spindle hub, washer and new fastener onto threaded end of shaft.
7. Torque to 120 ± 5 ft-lbs. (163 ± 6 Nm).
8. Rotate the spindle shaft in housing to verify smooth operation.
9. Place the spindle housing into the deck.
10. Place the housing ring onto the spindle studs (if applicable).
11. Install the six spindle fasteners to the studs. Torque 37 ± 4 ft-lbs. (50 ± 5 Nm).
12. Install the belt guide bracket (if applicable).
13. Install the spindle pulley and secure with three fasteners. Torque to 27-33 ft-lbs. (38-44 Nm).
14. Install the blade. Torque to 50-60 ft-lbs. (68-81 Nm).
15. Install the belt,
see "Belt Installation," chapter 6, page 6-22.
16. Start the mower and engage the deck several time to ensure proper operation.
