Using the Edgeline EL8000 Chassis Manager web interface to manage blade power

The Edgeline EL8000 Chassis Manager web interface offers four ways to manage the blade power. Blade power can also be
managed using the iLO 5 web interface.
The Virtual Power Button section on each blade page displays the current power state of the server, as well as options for
remotely controlling server power. On the Blades Summary page, the Power column indicates the state of the blade power
when the page is first opened. The server power state can be ON, OFF, or Reset. Use the browser refresh feature to view the
current server power state. The server is rarely in the Reset state.
Procedure
1. Click Blades in the navigation tree.
The page opens with the Summary tab selected.
2. Select the tab that corresponds to the blade to manage.
3. Click one of the following buttons:
Momentary Press
Press and Hold
Reset
Auxiliary Reset
The Press and Hold, Reset, and Auxiliary Reset options are not available when the blade is powered off.
WARNING: Using the Press and Hold, Reset, or Auxiliary Reset buttons can result in data loss.
4. When prompted to confirm the request, click OK.
Virtual power button details
The Virtual Power button section provides options for powering off or resetting the blade based on the current power state:
Graceful Power Off (Momentary Press)—This button sends a shutdown request to the OS installed on the blade. If the
installed OS is ACPI-compliant, it will close all apps and then shutdown. This button is shown as Power On when the blade
power is off - click the button to power on the blade.
Force Power Off (Press and Hold)—Sends a force power off command, the same as pressing and holding the physical
blade power button. Power will shut off to the blade regardless of whether the OS is shut down and will not automatically
reboot. Not shown when blade power is off.
Force System Reset (Reset)—Resets the blade by momentarily powering it off and then back on again, regardless of
whether an OS is running. Not shown when blade power is off.
Auxiliary Power Reset (Auxiliary Reset)—Removes all power to the blade for five seconds, resetting both the blade iLO
and the blade itself.
