DIAGNOSTICS,
7.3 Manual Diesel
Particulate Filter (DPF)
Regeneration (Only
available on some Diesel
Applications)
This diagnostic feature enables the user
to manually clear the DPF from soot
caused by diesel fuel, lower exhaust
back pressure, and ultimately reduce
emissions emitted from the tailpipe.
This Diagnostics feature is
available on specific Diesel vehicles
Only.
7.3.1 DPF Regeneration
Explained
DPFs' are used in newer diesel
powered vehicles to better control
emissions. This filter is used with
diesel oxidation catalyst to capture the
soot and ultimately lower emission
by burning it with high enough
exhaust gas temperatures (EGT).
Soot that is gathered can be purged
AUTOMATICALLY in one of two ways:
Passive Regeneration & Manual
Regeneration.
Passive Regeneration can happen
as a result of normal engine operating
conditions but occurs typically under
heavy towing or high load conditions
because engine EGT reach appropriate
temperature levels to oxidize or burn
the soot captured by the DPF.
During Manual Regeneration, the
iDash 1.8 Super Gauge will communicate
with the vehicles computer to clean
the DPF manually by raising EGT to a
suitable level and burning the soot.
When this occurs the RPM's will
automatically be raise above 2000 and
the radiator fan will turn on at a loud
volume.
It is strongly reccomended to
only use the manual Regen feature of
the iDash if conditions prevent a driving

Regen to naturally occur.
7.3.2 Error List/Conditions
for Manual Regeneration
The following list of conditions must be
met for Manual Regeneration to occur,
otherwise an error alert on the iDash 1.8
gauge will pop up.
Error List/Conditions
• Vehicle must be in Park.
• Fuel Level must be over 15%.
• Must have no Diagnostic Trouble
Codes present.(Except for P2463
Soot accumulation.)
• Engine Coolant Temp must be
above 71°C (160°F)
• Brake must not be active
• Accelerator Pedal must be zero
• Soot Load must be over 90%
