Connection

Attention!
The BCL 8 barcode reader is completely sealed and cannot be opened.
Do not try to open the device under any circumstances, as this voids both protection class
IP 67 and the warranty.
Before connecting the device, be sure that the supply voltage agrees with the value printed
on the name plate.
Connection of the device and maintenance work while under voltage must only be carried
out by a qualified electrician.
The power supply unit for the generation of the supply voltage for the BCL 8 and the corre-
sponding connector units must have a secure electrical insulation according to IEC 60742
(PELV). For UL applications: only for use in class 2 circuits according to NEC.
Take care to connect the protective conductor correctly to the housing screen. Error-free op-
eration is only guaranteed when the protective conductor is properly connected.
If faults cannot be corrected, the device should be removed from operation and protected
against possible use.
