11 Faults – Causes and Remedy

11.1 Special Safety Instructions

• The following general rules apply to all maintenance, assembly, repair and adjustment
work: Bring the machine to a complete standstill. Switch off the motor. Remove ignition
key. Cut supply voltage to comfort controls.
• Secure the tractor and rotary swather against rolling.
• Avoid skin contact with oil and grease.
• In case of injuries caused by oils, seek immediate medical assistance.
• Follow all further safety instructions, to avoid accidents and injuries.

11.2 General Faults, Causes and Remedy

Fault
Rotor does not work cleanly
High crop soiling
Swath width too wide
In headland position, one of the
rotors drops while the other one
rises.
Rotor cannot adapt to uneven
ground
Electrical adjustment of working
depth does not work
The rotors start from their headland
positions to the working positions
without time offset (front, centre,
rear)

Working depth set too high
Operating speed too high
Revs too low
Wrong setting of lateral rotor inclination
Tine arm(s) crooked
Working depth set too low
Tine arm(s) bent
Operating width too wide
Revs too low
Rotor not folded all the way up to
headland position
Lower link of tractor set too high or
too low
Tractor hydraulics not in float position
Fuse defective
Throttle adjusted incorrectly
Remedy
Set working depth lower
Reduce the driving speed.
Recommended value 8-10 km/h.
With uneven terrain or high crop
quantity, drive slower if necessary.
Increase the revs. Recommended
value 450 rpm.
Modify lateral inclinination setting
(chapter 5.3)
Replace tine arms
Set working depth higher
Replace tine arms
Change operating width
Increase revs
Operate hydraulics until the rotor
arms come to rest on the stops.
Align frame horizontally (height of
lower link arm approx. 80 cm)
Set the tractor hydraulics to float
position
Replace fuse in switchbox mounted
to the frame
Adjust the throttle (see Section 4.7)
