A memory test runs once a day. The Core Equipment Diagnostic (LD 35)
runs as part of the Midnight Routine, even if it is not programmed.
The Background Routine runs when no other program is loaded in the overlay
area. The programs included in the Background Routine run in sequence
repeatedly until there is another request to use the overlay area (for example,
if users log on to check the status of a circuit card) or the Midnight Routine
runs.
For the CS 1000E system, include the programs listed in Table 9 in Midnight
and Background Routines. Software Audit (LD 44), and Network and
Signaling Diagnostic (LD 30) should always be used in the Background
Routine.
The maintenance requirements and the configuration of the system determine
the other programs included in Midnight and Background Routines.
