C atalytic C onverter

Your M ercedes-Benz is equipped
with m onolithic type catalytic
converters, an im portant elem ent in
conjunction with the oxygen
sensors to achieve substantial
control of the pollutants in the
exhaust em issions. Keep your
vehicle in proper operating
condition by follow ing our
recom m ended m aintenance
instructions as outlined in your
Service Booklet.
Caution!
To prevent dam age to the catalytic
converters, use only premium
unleaded gasoline in this vehicle.
Any noticeable irregularities in
engine operation should be re­
paired promptly. Otherwise,
excessive unburned fuel may
reach the catalytic converter
causing it to overheat, which could
start a fire.
W arning!
As w ith any vehicle, do not idle,
park or operate this vehicle in
areas w here com bustible
m aterials such as grass, hay or
leaves can com e into contact
with the hot exhaust system , as
these m aterials could be
ignited and cause a vehicle fire.
