The First 1000 Miles
(1500 km)
The more cautiously you treat your
vehicle during the break-in period,
the more satisfied you will be with
its perform ance later on. Therefore,
drive your vehicle during the first
1000 m iles (1500 km) at m oderate
vehicle and engine speeds.
During this period, avoid heavy
loads (full throttle driving) and
excessive engine speeds.
Avoid accelerating by kickdown. It
is not recom m ended to brake the
vehicle by m anually shifting to a
lower gear. W e recom m end to se­
lect positions "3" , "2" or " 1" only at
m oderate speeds (for hill driving).
After 1000 m iles (1500 km) speeds
may be gradually increased to the
perm issible m axim um .

have your vehicle serviced by your
authorized M ercedes-Benz dealer,
in accordance with the Service
Booklet.
Failure to have the vehicle
m aintained in accordance with the
Service Booklet may result in
vehicle dam age not covered by the
M ercedes-Benz Limited W arranty.
Radio Transmitters
W arning!
N ever operate radio tran sm it­
ters equipped with a built-in or
attached antenna (i.e. w ithout
being connected to an external
antenna) from inside the
vehicle w hile the engine is
running. Doing so could lead
to a m alfunction of the veh i­
c le 's electronic system , possi­
bly resulting in an accident
and personal injury.
Radio transm itters, such as a port­
able telephone or a citizens band
unit, should only be used inside the
vehicle if they are connected to an
antenna that is installed on the
outside of the vehicle.
Refer to the radio transm itter
operation instructions regarding
use of an external antenna.
