Example
Checking C oolant Level
To check the coolant level, the
vehicle m ust be parked on level
ground and the engine stopped.
Check coolant level only when
coolant is cold.
Adding C oolant
If coolant has to be added, a
50/50 m ixture of w ater and
MB anticorrosion/antifreeze should
be added.
The drain plugs for the cooling
system are located on the right
side of the engine block and at the
bottom of the radiator.

W arning!
In order to avoid possibly
serious burns:
Use extrem e caution when
opening the hood if there
are any signs of steam or
coolant leaking from the
cooling system , or if the
coolant tem perature gauge
indicates that the coolant is
overheated.
Do not rem ove pressure
cap on coolant reservoir if
engine tem p eratu re is
above 194°F (90°C). Allow
engine to cool dow n before
rem oving cap. The coolant
reservoir contains hot fluid
and is under pressure.
Using a rag, slow ly open
cap app ro xim ately 1/2 turn
to relieve excess pressure.
If opened im m ediately,
scalding hot fluid and
steam will be blown out
u nder pressure.
Do not spill antifreeze on
hot engine parts. Antifreeze
contains eth ylen e glycol
w hich may burn if it com es
into contact w ith hot engine
parts.
