Master Switch -
Part I
Step
1 Power on the master switch and wait two minutes for it to initialize the management
software. Refer to "Powering on a Switch" on page 83.
2 Start a local management session. Refer to "Starting a Local Management Session"
on page 86.
3 Move to the Privileged Exec mode with the ENABLE command.
awplus> enable
Step 4 displays the version number of the AlliedWare Plus management software.
4 Display the version number of the AlliedWare Plus operating software on the switch
by entering the SHOW VERSION command. Write down the version number in the
worksheet in Table 4 on page 45. After viewing the version numbers on both
switches, compare them to confirm they all have the same version. Switches with
different versions have to be updated.

5 Move to the Global Configuration mode with the CONFIGURE TERMINAL command.
awplus# configure terminal
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
Steps 6 and 7 enable the VCStack feature, if needed.
6 Examine the System ID LED on the front panel of the switch. If it is displaying "0",
VCStack is disabled. Perform step 7 to enable it. If the LED is displaying the number
"1" or greater, skip step 7 and go to step 8.
6. Start a new local management session.
7. Verify the changes with the SHOW STACK and SHOW RUNNING-
CONFIG command.
To configure the master switch for a stack trunk of ports other than the
default trunk ports, perform the procedure in Table 6.
