General Stacking Guidelines
Here are the general guidelines to planning a stack:
A stack can have two XS900MX Switches.
The two XS900MX Switches of a stack can be the same model or
different models (i.e., AT-XS916MXT and AT-XS916MXS
Switches).
The switches are connected together with a trunk, consisting of two
ports per switch.
The default trunk ports are the SFP/SFP+ ports 15/S1 and 16/S2.
If you prefer, you can use any two SFP/SFP+ or twisted pair ports
as the trunk instead of the default trunk ports.
To use SFP/SFP+ ports for the trunk, you have to use Allied
Telesis approved stacking transceivers. Refer to "Default 15/S1
and 16/S2 Ports" on page 38.
The switches must have the same version of the AlliedWare Plus
operating software, preferably v5.4.7 or greater.
Stacking comes as a standard feature with the switch. It does not
require any additional software or license.
XS900MX Switches cannot be stacked with other stacking
switches, such as x530 or x550 Switches.
If you purchase an optional feature for a stack, you need to
purchase two licenses (one for each switch) and install the licenses
on the switches before cabling the stack.
Note
The XS900MX Switches do not support the AT-SP10TW7 Direct
Attach Cable.
