Before you install the switch, review the following considerations about its location. ■ AT-8948, x900-48FE, and AT-9900 switches require an ambient temperature from 0ºC to 50ºC (32ºF to 122ºF). ■ AT-9924Ts, x900-24X switches require an ambient temperature from 0ºC to 40ºC (32ºF to 104ºF). -

x900 Series Switch Installing the Switch You can install the switch on a level surface, such as a desktop or bench, or in a standard 19-inch rack. The switch is heavier at the rear than at the front. Therefore use the brackets supplied with the switch when rack-mounting because they are designed to fully support the weight. - Page 7 Installation and Safety Guide Rack-mount procedure Ensure the rack has sufficient space for the switch and its cables. x900 Series Switch Applying Power to the Switch The switch has two bays in the rear. Your switch comes with one pre-installed power supply unit (PSU). Depending on the model, the switch also has one fan-only module (FOM) in the other power supply bay or one blanking panel over the power supply bay. - Page 9 Installation and Safety Guide Procedure for DC Power Supply Only trained and qualified personnel should connect a DC power supply. For centralised DC power connection, the switch should be installed in restricted access areas only (such as dedicated equipment rooms or equipment closets) in accordance with Articles 110-16, 110-17, and 110-18 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70.
