ALERT SYSTEM/WARNING SYSTEM TROUBLESHOOTING
FUNCTION TEST USING THE HDS
1. Fuse inspection
Turn the combination switch OFF.
Check the No.10 fuse in the fuse/relay junction box.
Is the fuse blown?
YES
NO
2. Buzzer inspection
Turn the combination switch OFF and connect the HDS (page 5-3).
Test the warning buzzer using the HDS.
Does the buzzer sound?
YES
NO
3. Alternator indicator light inspection
Test the alternator indicator light using the HDS.
Does the alternator indicator light blink?
YES
NO
4. MIL inspection
Test the MIL using the HDS.
Does the MIL blink?
YES
NO
5. Overheat indicator light inspection
Test the overheat indicator light using the HDS.
Does the overheat indicator light blink?
YES
NO
6. Oil indicator light inspection
Test the oil indicator light using the HDS.
Does the oil indicator light blink?
YES
NO
– Replace the blown fuse and check for short in the main wire harness or incorrect load by referring
to the fuse load chart (page 4-4).
– GO TO STEP 2.
– GO TO STEP 3.
– • Inspect the warning buzzer
• Inspect the combination switch
• Repair the open or short circuit in the main wire harness
• Replace the ECM with a new one and recheck
– GO TO STEP 4.
– • Inspect the indicator light
• Repair the open circuit in the main wire harness
• Replace the ECM with a new one and recheck
– GO TO STEP 5.
– • Inspect the indicator light
• Repair the open or short circuit in the main wire harness
• Replace the ECM with a new one and recheck
– GO TO STEP 6.
– • Inspect the indicator light
• Repair the open or short circuit in the main wire harness
• Replace the ECM with a new one and recheck
– Indicator light/warning buzzer is normal.
– • Inspect the indicator light
• Repair the open or short circuit in the main wire harness
• Replace the ECM with a new one and recheck
