Clean the mating surfaces between the connecting rod
[1] and connecting rod bearing cap [2].
• Be careful not to damage the mating surface
between the connecting rod and connecting rod
bearing cap. Replace the connecting rod and
connecting rod bearing cap as a set, if damaged.
Clean the mating surfaces between the connecting rod
bearing [3] and connecting rod bearing cap with a
degreasing cleaning agent.
Apply molybdenum disulfide oil to the crankshaft mating
surface of the connecting rod bearing.
Install the connecting rod bearing to the connecting rod
bearing cap by aligning the tab [4] of the main bearing
with the groove [5] of the connecting rod.
Line up the code number mark [6] on the connecting
rod and cap, then install the cap.
Make sure that each connecting rod code number is
matched as shown.
Tighten the two connecting rod bolts [7] to the specified
torque, then tighten them to an additional 90°.
TORQUE: 20 N·m (2.0 kgf·m, 15 lbf·ft) + 90°
• Check that the piston is at the bottom dead center of
its compression stroke before tightening the bolts. If
not, turn the crankshaft to bring the piston to the
bottom dead center of its compression stroke.
• Do not interchange the connecting rod bearing caps.
Replace the connecting rod and connecting rod
bearing cap as a set, if interchanged.
Tighten the eight bearing cap bolts [1] in the numbered
sequence shown.
Tighten them to the specified torque, then tighten them
to an additional 58°.
TORQUE: 29 N·m (3.0 kgf·m, 21 lbf·ft) + 58°
Tighten the five (10 x 60 mm), (10 x 109 mm), and two
(10 x 80 mm) side bolts [2] in the numbered sequence
shown.
Tighten them to the specified torque.
TORQUE: 49 N·m (5.0 kgf·m, 36 lbf·ft)
