DRIVEABILITY - NGC
P0070-AMBIENT TEMP SENSOR STUCK —
TEST
5 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Ambient Temperature Sensor harness connector.
Disconnect the PCM harness connector.
CAUTION: DO NOT PROBE THE PCM HARNESS CONNECTORS. PROBING
THE PCM HARNESS CONNECTORS WILL DAMAGE THE PCM TERMI-
NALS RESULTING IN POOR TERMINAL TO PIN CONNECTION. INSTALL
MILLER SPECIAL TOOL #8815 TO PERFORM DIAGNOSIS.
Measure the resistance of the Ambient Temperature Sensor Signal Circuit from the
Ambient Temperature Sensor harness connector to the appropriate terminal of
special tool #8815.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes → Go To 6
→ Repair the open in the Ambient Temp Sensor Signal circuit.
No
6 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Ambient Temperature Sensor harness connector.
Disconnect the PCM harness connector.
CAUTION: DO NOT PROBE THE PCM HARNESS CONNECTORS. PROBING
THE PCM HARNESS CONNECTORS WILL DAMAGE THE PCM TERMI-
NALS RESULTING IN POOR TERMINAL TO PIN CONNECTION. INSTALL
MILLER SPECIAL TOOL #8815 TO PERFORM DIAGNOSIS.
Measure the resistance of the Sensor ground circuit from the Ambient Temperature
Sensor harness connector to the appropriate terminal of special tool #8815.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes → NOTE: Before continuing, check the PCM harness connector
→ Repair the open in the Sensor ground circuit.
No
7 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Ambient Temperature Sensor harness connector.
Disconnect the PCM harness connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Ambient Temp Sensor Signal circuit.
Is the resistance below 100 ohms?
Yes → Repair the short to ground in the Ambient Temperature Sensor
→ Go To 8
No
ACTION
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 5.
terminals for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Repair as
necessary. Replace and program the Powertrain Contorl Module
in accordance with the Service Information.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 5.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 5.
Signal circuit.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 5.
