INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
Symptom:
*CRUISE ON INDICATOR NOT OPERATING PROPERLY
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
ATTEMPT TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE PCM
CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM
DEFECTIVE BULB OR SOCKET
ENGINE TROUBLE CODES
TEST
1 Turn the ignition off then on. This will start the bulb test.
Did the cruise on indicator illuminate for 3 to 10 seconds?
Yes → Go To 2
→ Go To 4
No
2 Turn the ignition on.
With the DRB, read engine DTC's.
Are there any PCM DTC's present?
Yes → Refer to the Driveability category for the related symptom(s)
→ Go To 3
No
3 Drive vehicle, turn the speed control system on.
Does the speed control system operate properly?
Yes → Replace the Instrument Cluster in accordance with the Service
→ Refer to the Driveability category for the related symptom(s)
No
4 Turn the ignition on.
With the DRB, select Body, Body Computer, System Test then PCM Monitor.
Is the PCM active on the bus?
Yes → Go To 5
→ Refer to the Communications category for the related symptom(s).
No
5 Turn the ignition off.
Remove and inspect the cruise on bulb and socket.
Is there a problem with the bulb or socket?
Yes → Repair or replace the defective bulb or socket as needed.
→ Replace the Instrument Cluster in accordance with the Service
No
