DRIVEABILITY - NGC
P0703-BRAKE SWITCH #2 CIRCUIT —
TEST
3 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Brake Lamp Switch harness connector.
Disconnect the PCM harness connector.
Remove the ASD Relay from the PDC.
Using a jumper wire, jumper between the Fused B+ circuit and ASD Relay Output
circuit in the PDC.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the Brake Switch Sense circuit in the Brake Lamp Switch
harness connector.
Is the voltage above 1.0 volts?
Yes → Repair the short to voltage in the Brake Switch Sense circuit.
→ Go To 4
No
4 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Brake Lamp Switch harness connector.
Disconnect the PCM harness connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Brake Switch Sense circuit at the
Brake Lamp Switch harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes → Repair the short to ground in the Brake Switch Sense circuit.
→ Go To 5
No
5 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Brake Lamp Switch harness connector.
Disconnect the PCM harness connector.
CAUTION: DO NOT PROBE THE PCM HARNESS CONNECTORS. PROBING
THE PCM HARNESS CONNECTORS WILL DAMAGE THE PCM TERMI-
NALS RESULTING IN POOR TERMINAL TO PIN CONNECTION. INSTALL
MILLER SPECIAL TOOL #8815 TO PERFORM DIAGNOSIS.
Measure the resistance of the Brake Switch Sense circuit from the Brake Lamp
Switch harness connector to the appropriate terminal of special tool #8815.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes → Go To 6
→ Repair the open in the Brake Switch Sense circuit.
No
6 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Brake Lamp Switch harness connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Ground circuit at the Brake Lamp
Switch harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes → Go To 7
→ Repair the open in the Ground circuit.
No
ACTION
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 4.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 4.
