Clear CMOS jumper
Used to clear CMOS and turn the BIOS settings into the factory default settings.
Note: Clearing CMOS will erase your BIOS passwords.
To clear CMOS, do the following:
1. Prepare your server. See "Preparing your server in advance and removing the server cover" on page 55.
2. Lay the server on its side for easier operation.
3. Do one of the following:
• Remove the coin-cell battery for a few minutes. Then, reinstall it. See "Coin-cell battery" on page 107.
• Use the two levers of a tweezer to touch the two metal contacts of the jumper for a few seconds.
4. Reinstall the server cover and connect the power cords. See "Completing the parts replacement" on
page 122.
5. Connect the server to an ac power source and turn on the server. The clearing CMOS process is
completed.

Your server has a special type of memory that maintains the date, time, and configuration information for
built-in features. The coin-cell battery keeps the information active when you turn off the server.
