Selecting an Estimated Patient Temperature Setting (V7M)

WARNING: The V7M transesophageal transducer can exceed 43°C in the event of a system
malfunction, which can harm the patient. Disconnect the V7M transducer from the system during
periods of poor perfusion or circulatory arrest or during the hypothermic phase of open heart
surgery. Using the V7M transducer in the event of a system malfunction under any of these
conditions could harm the patient.
WARNING: When you are using the Hyperthermic patient temperature setting on a patient
whose core temperature is between 38.0°C and 39.4°C, there is a risk the transducer will reach
the maximum thermal limit during the exam. At the maximum thermal limit, the transducer will
stop imaging. Reduce the transmit power to minimize the possibility of reaching the maximum
thermal limit.
WARNING: When you are using the Normal patient temperature setting on a patient whose
core temperature is between 37.0°C and 37.9°C, there is a risk the transducer will exceed the
maximum thermal limit. Above the maximum thermal limit, the transducer can burn the patient's
esophagus. Reduce the transmit power to minimize the possibility of exceeding the maximum
thermal limit.
WARNING: The V7M transducer is not intended for use in patients whose core temperature is
below 37.0°C. If the core temperature of the patient is below 37.0°C, the V7M thermal sensor
will not prevent the transducer from overheating in the event of a malfunction. If the core
temperature of the patient is below 37.0°C, disconnect the transducer from the system until the
core temperature of the patient returns to 37.0°C.
When you connected the V7M transducer to the system you selected the estimated patient
temperature setting. You can change the estimated patient temperature setting in the image
menu if the core temperature of the patient has changed.
To change the patient temperature setting:
Based on the core temperature of the patient, click the required Pt Temp: setting on the
image menu.
