: Open top cover and check
<Cause>
During the feed operation from cassette B, the cassette A feed sensor or the eject
sensor did not detect the paper within the predefined time period.
During the paper rewinding for the cassette B, the paper did not pass through the
cassette A sensor within the predefined time period.
<Probable faulty component>
Eject sensor, spindle, cassette A, feed motor, lower roll drive unit, upper roll drive
unit, roll feed roller drive unit, paper guide B, paper delivery roller, spur unit, feed
roller, pressure roller unit, paper guide A, roll feed roller, paper guide D, motor
controller, mech. controller, system controller.
<Action>
1. Remove the paper.
Guess the source component of trouble along the paper path judging from the
location of the end of the jammed paper.
2. Visual inspection:
Check the paper path and the paper feed drive subsystem/components visually to
ensure that the drive belt(s) are not off and no foreign objects are attached to the
surfaces of the components.
3. Replace the eject sensor.
4. Replace the spindle.
5. Replace the cassette B.
6. Check the feed motor:
Perform a continuity check of the feed motor. If the test fails, replace the feed
motor.
Normal value: about 3.6 Ω between the two electrodes.
7. Replace the lower roll drive unit.
8. Replace the upper roll drive unit.
9. Replace the roll feed roller drive unit.
10. Disassemble and check the components associated with the paper path. Replace
failed units or components.

• Paper delivery roller
• Spur unit
• Feed roller
• Pressure roller unit
• Paper guide A
• Roll feed roller
• Paper guide D
11. Replace the motor controller.
12. Replace the mech. controller.
13. Replace the system controller.
