Aethalometer
Model AE33

10.1 External devices

External devices may be connected to the three serial COM ports of the AE33 Aethalometer.
These include data-loggers, as well as instrument accessories. The 'Operation/Advanced'
screen offers the "External device" dialog to select the interface for each COM port. After
making the physical connection on the rear panel, select the device from the drop-down list
and click "Connect". The Aethalometer will send a query to the external device. When the
connection is made, the status indicator will be shown in green. If there is a connection
problem the status will be shown as yellow, and the code value 8192 is added to the
instrument status.
Devices which are supported at present include:
o AMES_TPR159 (ID_com = 1) – dedicated ambient temperature + relative humidity +
pressure sensor used for flow reporting at ambient conditions
o Comet_T0310 (ID_com = 2) – temperature sensor
o Vaisala_GMP343 (ID_com = 3) – CO2 sensor
o TSI_4100 (ID_com = 4) – mass flowmeter
o Datalogger_AE33_protocol (ID_com = 5) – the port is enabled for communication with
the data-logger
o Aerosol_inlet_dryer (ID_com = 6) – temperature, RH, dew point sensor
o Datalogger_BH_protocol (ID_com = 7) – Bayern - Hessen protocol
