9.12 Lubrication of Optical Chamber Sliders

1. For this procedure you will need silicon grease and a cotton swab.
2. If the measurements are running, press 'Stop'. This procedure can also be done when the
instrument power is switched off.
3. Open the front door of the Aethalometer.
4. Put a small amount of grease on the cotton swab.
5. Apply the grease on all three sliders (vertical shafts) of the optical chamber. Try to apply the
grease uniformly over the whole length of the sliders.
6. Grasp the optical chamber with thumb and fingers on both sides, and move it up and down
against its springs several times. This will distribute the grease over the full range of the
sliders.
