9.1 Cleaning The Optical Chamber

Inspection of the optical chamber should be done twice annually as a regularly-scheduled
maintenance activity. The optical chamber should also be inspected if the data are
uncharacteristically noisy. This procedure will ensure that there is no dust or contamination in
the optical path.
1.For this procedure you will need a can of dust-off spray, technical-grade ethanol, and cotton
swabs.
2. If the measurements are running, press 'Stop'. This procedure can also be done when the
instrument is powered off.
3. Open the front door to access the optical chamber.
4. Using thumb and fingers on both sides of the optical chamber, lift the chamber upwards
against its springs. When the chamber is fully raised, lock it in place by pushing the metal
latch. The chamber is now locked.
5. Find the release button on the front of the chamber.
