SAFETY NOTES

Please pay attention to additional safety notes as described in detail in the User Manual, Chapter 2,
„SAFETY NOTES AND LABELS".
THE INSTRUMENT
front view
INSTALLATION
The instrument should preferably be installed indoors. If outdoors, it must be protected from the
weather (sun, rain, wind). It should be operated at ambient temperature from 10 to 40°C. If it is
installed in a small enclosure, this must be ventilated by a fan. Avoid placing the instrument or its
sampling lines in the discharge from air-conditioners.
1) Remove
red
protective caps from the
instrument.
2) Attach the sample inlet line using
fittings and adapters. Avoid sharp bends.
3) Switch the instrument on (make sure
to switch on TWO switches, one on rear panel,
one behind front door).
4) Use the size-selective PM2.5 cyclone inlet to exclude
dust and large particles. Clean the cyclone periodically!
5) Use the Sample Stream Dryer especially in cases of
high indoor ambient humidity.
6) Avoid direct discharge of air-conditioner over
sample lines, or insulate them. (This may cause
water condensation in the tubing).
7) Install insect screen/water trap (provided
with the instrument) close to the rear of the instrument.
The cup must be oriented downwards.
Installation example:
Aethalometer AE33, Sample Stream Dryer, cyclone and MET station

Any water intake may damage the instrument.
Damage due to water intake is not covered by the warranty!
