Mark the spindle starting at the top just to the inside of the top inside hole down to the corner of the small boss
at the bottom of the ear.
Use a saw to cut the ear off the spindle. If using a Sawzall or similar, use a wood blade; a 14tpi blade or finer
will just get gummed up with the aluminum.
