8.5 840D sl: Activate remote control for the VNC Viewer.
You can use the VNC Viewer to connect yourself by remote control to 840D sl controls that
have an active VNC server, e.g. PCU or NCU.
The factory settings only enable you to monitor a system (e.g. PCU) via an external VNC
Viewer.
To operate the system from another station, the system in question must grant permission.
You make the necessary settings in the tcu.ini in Section [VNCViewer].
Requirements

Note that only a single connection can be established from a VNC Viewer to a control. If a
VNC connection to the control already exists on a PC, no further VNC connection to this control
can be established with AMM.

Operating sequence
Open the "tcu.ini" file, and edit the parameters listed below.

Factory settings for access to the PCU
● To access the PCU by remote access, you require a password. The factory setting of the
password in the VNC server on the PCU 50.5 is "password". Modify this password during
commissioning in the settings of the VNC server to avoid security risks.
● To be able to access a PCU via the enterprise network with the VNC Viewer, port 5900
must be enabled at "Control Panel > Windows Firewall > Exceptions." This port does not
have to be enabled to access the PCU 50.5 via the plant network.

permissible.
User rights of the VNC Viewer:
● 0: No external viewers permitted
● 1: Guest mode (only monitoring permitted)
● 2: Administrator mode (full access)
