CNC Lock function

6.5.1

CNC lock function overview

Field of application
The machine manufacturer decides to sell a machine using the leasing business model with
CNC lock function and licenses this function for the appropriate control from Siemens with the
serial number of the CompactFlash card. This means that the machine manufacturer has the
option, using the "SINUMERIK Integrate Access MyMachine/ P2P (PC)" commissioning tool,
to activate a date in the control as of which the NC start is locked.
This allows, for example, a remaining payment of a machine to be requested or a change of
the PLC during the warranty to be prohibited. If the customer makes the agreed remaining
payment, the customer can then be provided with a new encrypted file with a new expiry date.
Validity of the function
Note that the CNC lock function is currently supported by only the following SINUMERIK
controls:
● SINUMERIK 828D
● SINUMERIK 808D
