Maintenance

The cutting tool will not come to a standstill immediately after
cut-off. Before starting any service work wait until all parts are
stationary.
To guarantee a long and reliable usage of the device carry out
the following maintenance works regularly.
Check the machine for obvious defects such as
− loose fastening elements
− worn or damaged components
− bent, broken or damaged cutting tool
− leaks from the fuel tank cap or fuel lines
Necessary repair works or maintenance works have to be
carried out before the usage of the machine.

Replacing the thread spool roll

 To replace the thread spool dismantle it first from the drive
shaft.
To this end, lock the drive shaft (H) with the screwdriver
(39). Now turn the thread spool (6) clockwise.
Press the lock on the bottom part of the spool (I) of the
thread spool. Turn the spool cover (6a) clockwise.
Remove the thread spool (6b) and the compression
spring (6c).
 Remove dirt and grass residues.
Place the compression spring (6c) in the bottom part of
the spool (I). Insert the new thread spool roll (6b).
Thread each thread individually into one of the two thread
guides in the bottom part of the spool (I).
Make sure to check that the clamped thread lies
above the thread guide.
Place the spool cover (6b) on the bottom part of the
spool (I).
Turn the thread spool upside down.
Make sure the locks in the bottom part of the spool lie above
the recesses in the spool cover. Press the bottom part down
with force. At the same time, press in the locks in the bottom
part of the spool. Turn the bottom part of the spool
counterclockwise until this lock engages.
Proceed as follows if the thread needs to be
wound up.
Bend the thread in the middle and place it into the slot of
the divider. Hold the thread spool roll as shown in the
illustration. Pull the thread in the direction of the arrow.
Wind the thread tautly on the thread spool roll by rotating
the roll clockwise.
Clamp both threads into the slots to prevent the
thread from unwinding while inserting the thread spool roll.

Sharpening or replacing the thread knife

Unscrew the thread knife (10).
 Clamp the thread knife into a vice and sharpen it with a flat
file.
Make sure not to change the angle of the knife and file only
in one direction.
File carefully.
 Screw down the thread knife again as shown.
Do not overtighten the screws.
Do not use unsharpened or damaged thread knives. A
damaged thread knife must be replaced by a new one.

Cutting blade

Safe and efficient working is only possible with a
correctly sharpened and intact cutting blade.
Therefore, check the cutting blade for dull edges, bents, cracks
or other damages on a regular basis.
Have dull cutting blades sharpened by a specialist/service
workshop.
Both sides of the cutting blade may be used. Turn round
the cutting blade once and continue to work with the brush
cutter until both sides of the cutting blade are dull-edged.
Replace damaged cutting blade by new one.

Cleaning the air filter

Clean the air filter from dust and dirt on a regular basis to
prevent
starting problems,
loss of output,
excessive fuel consumption.
Clean the air filter every 8 operating hours, or more frequently in
dusty environments (every 10 hours).
Put the choke lever (23) to the position
prevent dirt from entering the carburettor
Press the lock (J) and flip down the air filter cover (16).
Remove the air filter (31).
 Wash the air filter in a lukewarm soapy solution.
Do not puff/blow out dirt particles; otherwise there is a
risk of eye injury.
 Allow the air filter to dry well and reinsert it.
Damaged air filters must be replaced without delay.

Checking / replacing the fuel filter

Check the fuel filter (32) if required. A contaminated fuel filter
restricts the fuel supply.
Open the tank cap (22) and pull the fuel filter (32) through the
opening using a wire hook.
⇒ Slight contamination: Pull the fuel filter from the fuel line
and clean it in petroleum ether.
⇒ Bad contamination: Replace the fuel filter.
