Selecting the Paper Size

Automatic Paper Selection

Using the original size and the enlargement/reduction setting, the machine selects the correct paper
size (paper drawer). Automatic Paper Selection (APS) can be used when copying documents of
standard sizes. The following document sizes can be used for Automatic Paper Selection.
From the platen glass: 11"x17", LGL, LTR
From the feeder:
IMPORTANT
• You cannot use Auto Paper Selection when copying the following types of originals (copy these using
Manual Paper Selection):
- Irregular size originals
- Highly transparent originals such as transparencies
- Originals with an extremely dark background
- Originals smaller than STMT in size
• Auto Paper Selection cannot be used together with the following: Entire Image, Image Combination,
Image Separation, and XY Auto.
NOTE
• The standard setting is Auto Paper Selection: On.
• Automatic Paper Selection can be used when placing paper in the stack bypass and specifying the size.
Also, Automatic Paper Selection can be turned On/Off for each paper drawer individually. (See "Setting a
Paper Drawer to Auto Drawer Switching," in the Reference Guide.)

Place your originals and press the [Paper
Select] key.
NOTE
• Auto Paper Selection is selected in the standard
settings.
