Quiet Mode

If the machine is not used for about 15 seconds after the last print job or other task has finished, the
machine enters quite mode and all internal mechanical noise stops.
NOTE
• The time that elapses until the machine enters quiet mode can be set in the range of 15 to 60 seconds.

Auto Drawer Switching

If the selected paper drawer runs out of paper, the machine will automatically switch to another
paper drawer loaded with the same size paper, if available.
NOTE
• You can set a paper drawer to Auto Drawer Switching for each individual copy and printer function. You
can also set the Auto function to stop feeding when the paper type, rather than the size, is changed. (See
"Setting a Paper Drawer to Auto Drawer Switching," in the Reference Guide.)

Auto Rotate Function

If the image size calculated from the original size at the specified copy ratio does not fit on the paper
size unless it is rotated, the machine will automatically rotate the orientation of the image for print-
ing. For example, if an LTR-size (Horizontal) original is copying, the machine will automatically
rotate the image so that it can be printed on an LTR (Vertical) page.
NOTE
• If the image does not fit on the paper even after rotation, the machine will not rotate the image but will print
it as is, with part of the image cut off.
• Rotation is not applied when the ratios are set independently for the X and Y axes (XY Zoom). Also, rota-
tion is not applied in some cases when using Image Separation. (See "Enlarging/Reducing Originals at
Copy Ratios Set Independently for the X and Y Axes," on p. 2-47, or "Dividing an Original into Equal Sec-
tions and Enlarging Each Section on a Separate Copy Sheet," on p. 3-31.)

Auto Clear Function

After printing, if the machine is not in operation for a period of about two minutes, it automatically
returns to the standard settings.
NOTE
• You can set the Auto Clear time from one to nine minutes, in 1-minute increments. You can also cancel
this function. (See "Setting the Time Taken for the Display to Return to the Basic Features Screen After
Completing Operations," in the Reference Guide.)
