8. Troubles Related to Paper Feeding and Delivery (Main)

J098 (Shifting)

Cause:
• The side fences of the paper feed tray are not positioned correctly.
• The paper size, orientation, or paper type is not specified correctly.
• Paper other than white (colored paper, slightly creamy white, etc.), envelopes, or transparencies
are being fed.
• Sheets of mixed paper types, thickness, or colors are loaded in the same paper feed tray.
• The surface of the CIS sensor in the transfer unit is stained with paper dust.
Solution:
1. Fan the paper.
For details, see page 199 "Fanning the Paper".
2. Correctly position the side fences and end fence of the paper feed tray.
3. Print and check if J098 has been resolved.
