Install a dust seal onto the neering stem and prinS
the lower bearing mner race over the Slem with
the special tool.

BEARING RETAINER
Pack the bearing cavittes
with
grease.
'83:
Insert
the
steenng stem into the steering head pipe
and install the bearing retainer and upper bearing
inner race.
After '83:
Install the lower bearing and grease retainer onto
the steering stem, then insert the steering stem into
the steering head. Install the upper bearing and
inner race.
Install and tighten the bearing adjustment nut:
TORQUE:
'83: 14-16N·m(1.4-1.6kg-m.10-12ft.lbl
After '83: 19-23 N'm ('.9-2.3 kg-m. 14-17 ft·lb)
