(4) Take precautions when multiple cylinders or actuators are used close together.
When using two or more cylinders or actuators with a built-in magnet in close proximity to each other arranged in
parallel, design so that they will maintain a separation distance of at least 40 mm.
(If the separation distance is specified for each of cylinder/actuator series, use that value.)
The accuracy of the analogue ASW may be reduced and it may malfunction due to the magnetic field interference
between them.
(5) Reserve a space for maintenance.
Design by taking into account the space required for maintenance or inspection.
(6) Never mount the cylinder/actuator in a place to be used as a foothold.
It may be damaged if an excessive load is applied by stepping or climbing onto it.
(7) Design so that reverse current is prevented from entering when the wire breaks down or the product is
forced to operate for operation checks.
Reverse current may cause a malfunction or damage of the switch.
(8) Limit of the detectable position
There are mounting positions or surfaces where the product cannot be mounted due to physical interference (e.g.
bottom surface of the foot bracket), depending on the mounting conditions or the mounting bracket of the
cylinder/actuator.
Select the product after thoroughly confirming that the mounting bracket (e.g. trunnion, reinforcement ring), joint,
etc. for the cylinder/actuator will not interfere with the product at the setup position.
(9) Do not use a load which generates a surge voltage.
When a surge-generating load such as a relay is driven, use a device with built in surge protection.
(10) The analogue ASW output voltage will be unstable for 50 [ms] after power is supplied. The sensor
monitor starts the switch output operation within approximately 200 [ms] after power is supplied.
Please consider the above-mentioned time before using the product.
(11) Provide a rotation stopper for the cylinder/actuator piston rod.
Use a guide as a measure to stop the piston rod rotation or select an SMC product with an anti rotation function.
The output voltage may fluctuate without the rotation stopper.
With some cylinders, the magnet may rotate even when the piston rod does not rotate. The magnet of some cylinder
models with a guide also rotates. Contact SMC for details.
(12) Under the following operating conditions, the analogue output voltage and the value indicated on the
sensor monitor may fluctuate.
If warm-up (about 10 to 15 min) is not performed, there is wobbling (mechanical factor, floating joint, etc.), or using in
a disturbance environment or an environment which is affected by the magnetic force, such as a magnetic body (iron,
screw) or the mounting orientation (terrestrial magnetism), the accuracy may be reduced.
It is recommended to use non-magnetic bodies for magnetic bodies, bolts, etc. in the surroundings.
(13) Data input to the sensor monitor will not be deleted even if the power supply is cut off. However, there is a
limit in the number of times data can be written.
(Write limit: 10,000 cycles, Data retention period: 20 years)
