Start battery, checking
Battery electrolyte contains corrosive sulphuric ac-
id.
Risk of corrosive injuries, health hazard!
Electrolyte on skin should be removed immediately.
Wash with soap and plenty of water. If electrolyte
has splashed into the eyes, rinse immediately with
plenty of water and seek immediate medical atten-
tion.
1 Check the battery voltage from the operating menu for electri-
cal system.
With the engine off, the battery voltage should be 23–25 V.
With engine at max. engine speed (2000 rpm), the battery volt-
age should be 27–29 V.
2 Turn off the engine and the main electric power.
3 Check that the battery terminals are free from dirt. If needed,
grease the battery terminals with terminal grease.
4 Check the fluid level in the battery cells. Top up with battery
water if needed.
The electrolyte level should be 10 mm above the cells.
NOTE
Only use distilled water for topping up.
