4.2 IMAGE QUALITY

corresponding Troubleshooting "countermeasure."

4.2.1 BACKGROUND

Symptom

The background is smeared, or dirty
background is present.

Possible Cause

1) Insufficient charge amount during
in the development procedure.
2) Insufficient contact of the
development roller's bias pole.
3) "End of Life" or failure of the transfer belt unit.
4) Failure of the high voltage unit.

Countermeasures

1) Replace the development unit.
2) Check that the developer bias terminal contact is not damaged.
3) Replace the transfer belt unit.
4) Replace the high voltage unit.

4.2.2 MISSING IMAGE AT EDGE

Symptom
There are parts of the image missing
especially at the edges.
Possible Cause
1) Insufficient toner mass amount and/or
charge amount in the development
procedure.
2) The OPC belt is damaged.
Countermeasures
1) Replace the development unit.
2) Replace the OPC belt unit.
