For the development process, the G108 utilizes a single (one) development motor
[A] and four development clutches [B]. When each development clutch is on
(activated), rotational drive is transferred to the development drive gear [C] (shown
below).

The development drive gear [C] has two functions. First, the drive gear transfers
rotation to the development roller (
6.5.1). And second, the drive gear's torque
helps move the right side of the development unit [D] towards the OPC belt.
NOTE: For the mechanism that moves the development unit's left side towards the
OPC belt refer to section 6.5.4.
