\DOC\DDI_GX.DLL, ddi_gx_Samsung.dll and ddi_gx_sharp.dll
DDI_GX.DLL is the Windows CE LCD Driver loaded by the registry at start up.
ddi_gx_Samsung.dll and ddi_gx_Sharp are simply 'on-hand' copies of the
Samsung and Sharp LCD drivers respectively. When the WS4 entered production,
it used a Samsung LCD panel and driver. In this case, ddi_gx_Samsung.dll is
renamed to DDI_GX.DLL.
MICROS anticipated the change from the Samsung LCD to a Sharp LCD and
included the Sharp driver, ddi_gx_sharp.dll on every terminal, including those
those shipped with a Samsung LCD.
Once production switched over to the Sharp LCD, ddi_gx_sharp.dll is renamed to
DDI_GX.DLL, replacing the Samsung LCD driver.
The \DOC\HWConfigSetup.dat file was created to rename the LCD drivers from
Sharp to Samsung as required if given a command from the CAL script, but this
was not implemented. The majority of Workstation 4s were built with the Sharp
LG41 and smaller number were produced with the Sharp LG61; however, both
use the same driver.
See the section on WS4 LCD Troubleshooting for more information about the
LCD Drivers and the symptoms that appear if a LCD panel and driver mis-match
occurs.
\DOC\IspDrv.dll
This file (InSituProgammingDriver) provides a means of upgrading the firmware
on the integrated MICROS LCD Customer Display. This driver does not start by
default since it is used only to perform firmware upgrades. FB05-002 describes
how to use this feature should it be required.
\DOC\wavedev_gx_NOTUSED.dll
This file is an unused sound driver. The AB28 and ABRD36 System Boards are
provisioned to support an AC97 audio codec, but the device is not populated.
Other than a few 'proof-of-concept' units, the Workstation 4 does not do audio.
