Power Button Sticks
Symptoms: The Power button actuator is recessed and the WS4 does not change states
when pressed.
Damaged Power Button Actuator.
This can happen on the original WS4 with a S/N of less than 3000. Excessive
force on the actuator can damage it, causing it to stick in the recessed position.
Replace the actuator. On units with a serial number higher than 3000, the plastic
actuator is heat staked to the base and is far more resistant to damage, but can be
damaged with excessive force. If this occurs, the workstation base must be
replaced.
Power Switch Alignment.
There are two possible causes for this.
Loose or missing System Board mounting hardware. Make sure all system
board mounting hardware is installed and fastened.
The system board power switch is mis-aligned. This occurs in very rare cases.
Removal and re-mounting of the system board (using all of the mounting
hardware to secure the board) switch may improve the situation.
