10. Replace the cover (see "Installing the cover" on page 130).
11. Slide the server into the rack.
12. Reconnect the power cord and any cables that you removed.
13. Turn on the peripheral devices and the server.

Removing a memory module

To remove a dual inline memory module (DIMM), complete the following steps:
1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and "Installation guidelines"
2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect all power cords.
3. Remove the cover (see "Removing the cover" on page 130).
4. Remove the DIMM air baffle (see "Removing the DIMM air baffle" on page 132).
5. Carefully open the retaining clips on each end of the DIMM connector and
CAUTION:
When laser products (such as CD-ROMs, DVD drives, fiber optic devices,
or transmitters) are installed, note the following:
v Do not remove the covers. Removing the covers of the laser product
could result in exposure to hazardous laser radiation. There are no
serviceable parts inside the device.
v Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other
than those specified herein might result in hazardous radiation
exposure.
DANGER
Some laser products contain an embedded Class 3A or Class 3B laser
diode. Note the following.
Laser radiation when open. Do not stare into the beam, do not view
directly with optical instruments, and avoid direct exposure to the
beam.

9. Slide the drive into the DVD drive bay until the drive clicks into place.

Attention:
To ensure proper cooling and airflow, do not operate the server for
more than 30 minutes with the cover removed.

connectors, open and close the clips gently.
