Chapter 2. Introduction

This Problem Determination and Service Guide contains information to help you
solve problems that might occur in your IBM
or 4261 server. It describes the diagnostic tools that come with the server, error
codes and suggested actions, and instructions for replacing failing components.
The most recent version of this document is available at http://www.ibm.com/
systems/support/.
Replaceable components are of four types:
v Consumable parts: Purchase and replacement of consumable parts
v Tier 1 customer replaceable unit (CRU): Replacement of Tier 1 CRUs is your
v Tier 2 customer replaceable unit: You may install a Tier 2 CRU yourself or
v Field replaceable unit (FRU): FRUs must be installed only by Trained service
For a list of replaceable components for the server, see "Replaceable server
components" on page 119.
For information about the terms of the warranty and getting service and assistance,
see the Warranty Information document that comes with the server.
