v Follow the suggested actions in the order in which they are listed in the Action column until the problem
is solved.
v See Chapter 4, "Parts listing, System x3250 M3 Types 4251, 4252, and 4261," on page 119 to determine
which components are customer replaceable units (CRU) and which components are field replaceable
units (FRU).
v If an action step is preceded by "(Trained service technician only)," that step must be performed only by a
trained service technician.

Action
1. If the server fails the POST memory test, reseat
the DIMMs.
2. Remove and replace any DIMM for which the
associated error LED is lit (see "Removing a
memory module" on page 151 and "Installing a
memory module" on page 152).
3. Run the Setup utility to enable all the DIMMs.
4. Run the DSA Preboot memory test (see "Running
the diagnostic programs" on page 78).
1. Remove and replace the affected DIMM (error
LED is lit) with a supported type (see "Installing a
memory module" on page 152).
2. Update the server firmware to the latest level (see
"Updating the firmware" on page 193).
