OPERATION 38

CHECK FRONT AND REAR WHEEL NUTS

Check the front and rear wheel nuts for tightness
using a torque wrench (with a torque multiplier,
where necessary).
The specified torque figures are shown in the
following table:

Wheel Nut Torque Settings

Two wheel drive - -
Front disc to hub nuts
Four wheel drive - - Adjustable front wheels
Front disc to hub nuts
Front disc to rim nuts
Adjustable rear wheels - - Flanged axle
Disc to hub nuts
Disc to rim nuts
Bar Axle
Disc to hub nuts
Disc to rim nuts
Split wedge bolts

CHECK TYRE PRESSURES AND TYRE
CONDITION
Check and adjust the front and rear tyre pressures.
Inspect the tread and sidewalls for damage.
Adjust the tyre pressures to suit the load being
carried. See 'Tyre Pressures and Permissable
Loads' in Section 3.
NOTE: If the tyres are ballasted with a calcium
chloride/water solution, a special tyre gauge should
be used as the solution will corrode a proprietary type
gauge. Check pressure with the valve stem at the
bottom.
