Replacing Spark Plug; (Inspections Iii) - BMW C1 Repair Manual

Valve clearances:
Inlet valve ............ 0.05...0.14 mm (0.002...0.006 in)
Exhaust valve ...... 0.20...0.29 mm (0.008...0.011 in)
•
Turn engine over manually and recheck valve
clearances
•
Installation is the reverse of the removal pro-
cedure: pay particular attention to the follow-
ing
•
Coat threads of fasteners for chain guide and
camshaft sprockets with Loctite

Note:
Always renew the screw plug sealing ring

Note:
Make sure that the gasket and the groove in the
cylinder head cover are clean and free of oil

Caution:
Remember to remove the crankshaft locating
screw.
Operating fluids:
Chain rail ............................................... Loctite 243
X
Tightening torques:
Camshaft bearing cap .................................. 10 Nm
Machine screw (locating pin) ........................ 15 Nm
Chain rail to camshaft carrier........................ 10 Nm
Threaded fastener for chain tensioner .......... 35 Nm
Cylinder head cover ..................................... 10 Nm

Replacing spark plug

(Inspections III)

– Remove left service cover

Disconnect spark plug cap
•
Use spark-plug wrench, BMW No. 12 3 531, to
remove spark plug
X
Tightening torque:
Spark plug ................................................... 15 Nm
Materials:
Spark plug .........................................NGK CR 8EB
