11 11 288 Replacing grooved ball bearing for
output shaft in housing
– Separate halves of housing.
– Remove output shaft sealing ring.

Note:
To avoid damaging the sealing face, use an old gas-
ket and support on blocks.
•
Working from outside and using mandrel,
BMW No. 11 7 571 D = 42 mm (1.575 in) or
24 mm socket, press bearing into gearcase
cavity.
When installing:
•
To avoid risk of breakage, support housing by
placing tubular spacer, BMW No. 31 5 652, un-
derneath bearing seat.

Caution:
Grease seats of shafts.
•
Lightly oil outside circumference of grooved ball
bearing and press into housing with mandrel,
D = 50 mm (1.969 in) h = 200 mm (7.874 in) or
36 mm socket, until seated.
Operating fluids:
Shaft seats ........................Klüber paste 46 MR 401
