INSTALLING VIDEO
The VIPer807 video system includes a local bus Flat Panel/CRT video controller, 1 MB of
video memory (DRAM) and a video feature connector.
8.01 FLAT PANEL / CRT SVGA CONTROLLER
The VIPer807's Flat Panel / CRT Super VGA controller is a single-chip video controller
®
from Cirrus Logic
(CL-GD7548). It is fully compatible with the IBM™ VGA standard at
the hardware and BIOS level. Other features of the video chip include BitBLT (bit block
transfer) GUI acceleration, true-color capability, power management support, enhanced
MVA (Motion Video Acceleration) support with TFT and STN panels, and full-motion
video playback.
8.01.1 FLAT PANEL SUPPORT

The video controller supports panels with a resolution of up to 1024
768. It supports
monochrome and color Single-Panel/Single-Drive, Dual-Panel/Dual-Drive, STN and TFT
LCD panels. The CL-GD7548 also supports two types of XGA TFT flat panels: 1 bit/pixel
and 2 bits/pixel with an interface board.
8.01.2 CRT SUPPORT

The video controller supports CRT terminals with a resolution of up to 1024
768 (256
colors). It is compatible with CGA, EGA, Hercules, MDA, VGA and SVGA monitors.
8.01.3 DISABLING VIDEO
The video controller can be disabled by shorting pins 7 and 8 on the W22 jumper. See
Section 3 for jumper location and settings.
This feature is useful when an external video card is required for testing or other purposes.
